Sannio

Sannio is not a single town, it is a series of small villages nestled in nature, between valleys and hills, such as Cerreto Sannita and San Lorenzello, where skilled craftsmen take great care over the details of their ceramics.

Further on we find Cusano Mutri, which can be considered a real jewel of Italian medieval art: the village is a mixture of taste, nature and adventure! The more courageous can try the thrill of an excursion to the Gole di Caccaviola or simply to the Forre del Lavello and then proceed to Pietraroja to discover the dinosaur Ciro and its local ham.

Ciro was the first dinosaur discoverd in Italy and is one of the littlest dinosaurs in the world. For the science is very important because preserves cartilage, traces of the liver, intestines, blood vessels…

but Pietraroja is also famous for its local ham. The “Prosciutteria” is a typical place characterized by the ancient ham processing techniques. Here is posssible take a lunch in the inusual restaurant: you can eat looking the ancient wood kitchen!
